Hello sorry for my absence bean an busy couple of days had my blood test on Friday then my appointment after my blood pressure was high so I have to go back on the 30th of this month to see the Diabetic nurse to have my blood pressure taken again but I’ve got an appointment on the Thursday this week cuz I’m in discomfort with my abdomen

Drinking water as opposed to what, Sammy? - what would you be drinking if it were not the water ?
I aim to drink water everyday but sometimes I have an cup of tea but I don’t drink lots of tea as I used to I don’t drink coffee anymore but I do drink Pepsi max as it doesn’t upset my stomach

What can happen is this:

If you are type 1 you do not produce enough insulin. Your body can not use the glucose and just throws it out. It needs lots of water to do this. It then uses fat for fuel so you lose wieght.

The problem is that it can not use the fat properly without insulin. Using fat without insulin produces toxins - very dangerous.

When you say that you had a blood test which showed that you are type 2 are you sure that that is what it did show, and not just that you are diabetic. The type is often just an assumption. It is not usual to test for type!
Hello yes I am type two I was Diagnosed in 2019

Fingers crossed for your results on Friday Sammy 🙂

In my opinion, it is a big mistake to treat T2 without insulin. The body does not produce enough of it, so it must be injected. When there is no insulin in the body, it cannot get energy from the glucose in the blood and the body has no strength.

It's not an opinion I share. Agreed there are some T2's for whom insulin is the best treatment but there is plenty of evidence to show that diabetes in most diagnosed with T2 can be controlled by a combination of exercise, weight loss and medication other than insulin.

Yes, I agree with you. Maybe it's individual, but I know people who are afraid of injections and that's why they struggle and have no strength and suffer, that's what I meant.

People with T2 are producing some insulin from their pancreas, at diagnosis this is not enough to match the glucose in the blood, or it does not work well enough due to increased insulin resistance. This can be addressed in a variety of ways so as you say the management is very individual.
  • Some manage by reducing the carbs eaten and so reduce the amount of glucose the body needs to deal with. Increased activity uses up nor of the glucose too.
  • Others need medications in order to prompt increased insulin production, or to make what they do produce more effective.
  • Some cannot reach safe levels with these strategies and so need to add in insulin. A fear of injections will make this difficult as you say @mesrin . I hoe that people can get help with this if it is an issue, and I have seen many strategies suggested on here to help with this.
As with so many things we each need to find a way to manage our diabetes day to day.

Very well said! It is important for everyone to overcome fear and mental depression from the disease and to do their best, not to give up and live better.

Your body will start using fat as fuel if carbs are reduced.

Hi mesrin. I see you are posting from Bulgaria and I wonder if you are using something like Google Translate to read and compose posts?

No problems at all with that, it is good for us to have some insight into how other countries handle diabetes. We often have questions from people who intend to visit other countries and to have a contributor with first hand experience to advise them can be very helpful.

I did not know that it matters where you write in the forum, if there is, not to write. In my opinion, the exchange of personal experience and information with other victims of this insidious disease is much more important!

I agree. We all share a medical condition. It doesn’t matter where we live. I’m sure our difficulties are the same.

I agree. It does not matter at all where in the world we are from, we share the same condition and the same difficulties .

It is also good for us to learn how different countries treat the various types of diabetes.

@mesrin, of course it does not matter where in the world you come from, all are welcome here.

The only aim in my post was to alert members to ensure that their replies took into account that you came from a country where medical practice may be different to what they are used to and that your style might have more to do with the way translation software works rather than your own personality.
