Hi all.My name is Adrian.Joined this evening as like some of the newbies ,feel more than a little out of my depth.Battled the bottle for over twenty years and quit 4 years ago this month. Now appears to have taken its toll on my body ,Took a seizure on 27.03.10 and ended up in A.&E .Went to my doc .on 23 rd .to be told that he was revoking my licence for a year.Still in a state of shock.Been driving for 40 years.Went back to him today and he will not shift until I see a neurologist. Is this normal?Nice to find somewhere to share problems.Adrian

Hi Adrian, welcome to the forum 🙂 Wow, sorry to hear of the problems you have had. I can't comment on the driving as I don't drive, but maybe others can help. How long have you been diagnosed with diabetes and what sort of regime are you on? Look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Adrian

Don't know much about this but had to reply because it sounds like the most frustrating thing ever..... hellish bottle-battles finally won and now fits.....

It is normal though, to stop people driving if they might unexpectedly fit. Know a few epileptics. It wouldn't be your fault if you were driving along absolutely fine and a fit came along, you lost control of the car and killed somebody. It wouldn't be their fault, either.
Doesn't make it easy on your independence tho.

I'm type 1 diabetic and they give us a hard time about making sure we don't have hypos when we drive; I'm on a 3-year license.....

Hi Adrian, diabetes can be bad enough without having other problems!

Anyway, welcome to the forum. I think that you'll find it to be a place where you can pick up some useful information about how to deal with your diabetes.

Hi Adrian ...

Well come to the forum .. :D

Sorry to hear you having a tough time with things ... but well done on the battle against the bottle .. :D

Although I dont drive .. I am epileptic ... and yes you can have your licence revoked ... If it is confrimed by neurologist that you do have epilepsy, your licence would not be reinstated until your are seizure free for 12months solid and your condition is under control with appropriate medication ..

You've come to the right place to share your problems ... there is a wealth of knowledge and understanding on here .. and always someone online to chat to..🙂

Heidi
xx🙂
