Welcome to the forum, a bit more information about your situation will help people point you in the right direction for inspiration.
To get you started this link might be of interest. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/

Welcome to the forum @Jezza

I’ve moved your post into its own thread, so that people can welcome you properly. 🙂

How long have you been living with diabetes? How have you been finding it? Are you taking any medication to help manage your blood glucose levels?

There are two main approaches to T2 diabetes management that are popular on the forum (with many variants among them). Weight loss, and low carb.

Research has shown that losing significant amounts of weight can help ‘reboot’ the metabolism. Particularly if weight is being carried around the abdomen - which can indicate visceral fat built up around organs like the liver and pancreas, stopping them working properly. The weight can be lost gradually through traditional energy limitation, or with a more dramatic 12 week 800 cal ‘Soup and Shake’ intervention sometimes called the Newcastle Diet. Many members using this approach find that glucose levels improve naturally as their weight reduces.

The other approach is to focus on blood glucose management with a lower carbohydrate way of eating (typically less than 130g of carbohydrates a day). Reducing portions of all carbohydrates, not just the obvious sweet and sugary things, but bread, pasta, potatoes, grains, rice, and many fruits. Some members choose to ‘eat to their meter’ using before and after meal checks to aim for a rise of no more than 2-3mmol/l 2hrs after a meal. Many members using this approach find that weight reduces naturally as their glucose levels improve.

There are others who use a combination approach.

Hope you are able to find a method that works for you 🙂

Hi, and welcome from me too. A combination of weight loss, low carb, being more active and (for a while) medication worked for me and has done so for many others. Where are you with your BG at the moment as this will determine on how much you need to do?

Hi @Jezza and a very warm welcome from me too 🙂 . I'm glad you decided to join the Forum and hopefully you will find the help and support that you need.

Hello and welcome. If you need general advice you simply look at the wider Diabetes UK website or try the learning zone. There is lots of good stuff there. If you want specific answers you will need to post more information about yourself. Members are more than willing to share their experiences but they need some context to know what experiences to share with you.

Hi @Jezza welcome to the forum. There is lots of good advice in the various posts on here about how others have managed to bring their diabetes under control and I am sure that some of the methods will provide you with the answers you are looking for. I went the low carb diet route and exercise route which has worked pretty well for me, but you may need something different so have a read of the other approaches
