Hey guys
So turns out on top of the T1 I now have an intolerance to eggs and dairy. Just my luck eh!
Anyone know any nice dairy alternatives, found a few dairy free creamers for my coffee but little stuck on everything else.
Tried a few shop bought foods and some are a bit like chewing cardboard
Appreciate any recommendations

I have a friend (a fellow T1) who has the same intolerances as you but has found that the egg intolerance is only hen's eggs. This allows her to enjoy some lovely creamy duck's eggs. I don't know if they are worth trying for you.

I didn’t think of duck eggs been an age since I had them. I just took the egg intolerance as all eggs, Will give them a try when I do the shopping. Thank you

Have a look in the free from range in supermarkets it's amazing what is available.
Duck eggs are very fatty and if you have an egg intolerance do not touch them.

Are you OK with the lactose free dairy. I think it comes down to the difference between an allergy and an intolerance. Is it the lactose or the protein in dairy that is the problem.

I have lactose intolerance and I am fine with hard cheeses like mature cheddar, parmesan etc and ripened soft cheeses like Brie and Camembert because those cheeses have no lactose in them.

I drink and use unsweetened almond 'milk' and that is great because it is also zero carbs.

You can use the liquid from tins of chickpeas (they call it aqua faba) as an alternative to egg whites in cooking to make mayonniase and meringues (you can use powdered sweetener to make meringue) you can also use finely ground flax seed mixed with hot water to make an egg substitute in cooking/baking. 3 tablespoons of warm water to 1 tablespoon of finely ground flax seed = 1 egg.

I used to have these Alpro chocolate soya desserts before I got T2D, they're chocolately, delicious and custardy. 12.7g of carbs/100g (they're 125g pots).
I've also tried soya yogurt and it was vile, but there's other soya/oat based alternatives which might be better.

Just managed to find 5 mins to get back to this! Appreciate the replies and ideas all the same.
I react to the lactose. Makes me violently ill, same with anything with egg. Duck eggs are a no go too. I managed to find some Lacto free snack type things over the weekend (for convince) which weren’t to bad at all taste wise. Got through a few bbqs in this sun without to much hassle which was nice. The Lacto free cathedral cheese isn’t to bad at all just feel it’s a bit softer than the original.
Cheese is my vice in life. I love the Alpro choc pots, they’ve been a firm favourite in my house for long enough. Have you tried the coconut collar chocolate pots? They are so rich and taste amazing!
As if we don’t have enough to think about with the T1D in itself eh

Has anyone tried tofu "cheesecake"? I was surprised by the reviews of it recently and fancy giving it a go but may need to hide the ingredients from my partner: I don't think he will want to eat tofu for dessert.

I’ve never heard of that, going to have to Google it and give it a try at somepoint

You could consider coconut milk and coconut yoghurt. I really like coconut yoghurt.
