I can't imagine not having my cats and mine are indoor cats as I'm near a main road and they're quite happy and much like @Copepod if I am away over night as long as they have biscuit and water they're fine. If I'm away longer then I have a lovely neighbour who comes in and looks after them :D

They are the best company and I would say go for it 🙂
