Hi
I am jimmyL and I have been a type 2 diabetic for about 30 years and unfortunately I am suffering from some of the associated problems. I have neuropathy in both legs from mid calf to my feet. I also suffer from Charcot’s in both feet as well as 4 end of toe ulcers that took a while to heal.
Unfortunately my diabetes is hereditary as both of my brothers have also been diagnosed with diabetes over the last few years.
This was inherited from my mother and her mother.
Luckily my eye sight is still good.

Hi @JimmyL and welcome to the forum!
thank you so much for sharing your story with us - it sounds like you’ve been through a lot over the years. Living with Type 2 for 30 years, especially while managing complications like neuropathy, Charcot’s, and toe ulcers, can’t have been easy, but it’s clear you’ve handled things with strength and determination.
It’s good to hear your eyesight is still doing well, and while it must be tough knowing diabetes runs through your family, it’s also a reminder that you're not alone in this - and neither are your brothers.
You’ve clearly gained a lot of lived experience, and I’m sure your story could resonate with and help others in the forum too. Please don’t hesitate to share more if you ever feel like it, and we’re here anytime you need support or just someone to listen.

Just remembered this recent thread where another user has discussed Charcot foot, that you might find useful:
