A first-year university student suffering from so-called Long Covid has described the disease as an "iron cage around the chest".

Cambridge University fresher Oona Lagercrantz, 19, contracted coronavirus eight months ago but is still suffering the effects.

She said in summer she was still suffering from coronavirus symptoms and was worried that her place at university was in jeopardy.

She also feared she would struggle to cope or that she would "collapse", Cambridgeshire Live reports.

Oona, who enrolled at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge this academic year, is still experiencing Covid-19 symptoms now despite contracting the virus eight months ago.

years ago i had a bad chest infection which took around a year to recover from.

they are now saying that the virus can be so bad that it destroys the lungs and only option is lung transplant.

It's worth pointing out that this has only happened in a tiny handful of patients. I read it was about 11 people in the US.
