Does anyone have any specific experience regarding taking diabetes supplies onto the London Eye?
Their website suggests that they do random searches for security reasons. I recall a lady with type 2 on another forum having her lancet device confiscated although this was some time ago.
There does not appear to be any specific info relating to medical devices on their website and to contact them you need to give your details. I'm probably overparanoid but if they are very diabetes unfriendly and we go ahead and book I am concerned they may keep details of enquiry and cause hassle ( That looks ridiculous now- told you I am paranoid!)
We were considering taking my boyfriend's Mum for a birthday treat in August. We would be staying with her a good 90 minutes train ride away so no option to leave stuff in car. (I know not a good idea anyhow due to insulin possibly being affected in hot weather)
I am on a pump and if going out for the day I usually just take testing supplies with vial of novorapid and 2 syringes in the meter case to tide me over in case of pump failure/ dislodged cannula etc.
It would really be Murphy's law to not be able to take supplies and then end of with a pump related problem and high levels/ ketones- I wouldn;t really be prepared to risk it. I think they return confiscated items to you later but I would be concerned about them being mislaid

Abiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii - LOL

Take your copy prescription with you!

We've been on the London Eye. Nobody checked my bag. We had Carol's pens and the glucose monitor with us.
I don't know what would have happend if they'd checked my bag. But I do know they wouldn't mislay your stuff. There isn't much room to do that 🙂
You get off at the same place that you get on, well almost. It's simply a separated platform

I've not been on the London Eye recently....

But I have been in the Natural History Museum and they do bag searches there as well. They did ask if I was carrying anything sharp and I did declare my diabetes supplies (ok, it's only lancets, but still...)

It didn't cause a problem - they were more concerned if I was carrying scissors or knives!

We went on a couple of years ago - bag searches were literally a quick peer inside (like pubs) and nothing more.
