Hi i am Will, 50 and type 2 since March 2010, are there any local groups/meetings near me in Eltham SE9 please? saw one in Bexley area but seems to be for 14-40's anything in my age group? thanks in advance

Hi Will, have you had a look at the Diabetes UK page?

http://www.diabetes.org.uk/In_Your_Area/Support_Groups/?pc=se9

Some groups are very active, but some sadly are poorly attended, but hoepfully you will strike lucky 🙂

We try to have forum meetings when we can - we've had a couple in London and also Guildford, Newcastle, Glasgow and Southampton. We've got one coming up in Brighton on July 3rd, see this for details:

These are open to all ages and we have an excellent time. It can be very refreshing to be in the company of others who know exactly what you are talking about when it comes to diabetes! 🙂 I'm 51, by the way, and we have people attending from late-teens upwards, so no-one feels out of place. Not the same as having a local group, but we hope to have them more regularly and in more locations as the forum grows.

Hi Will, I am in Abbeywood SE2, and my nearest group is in Bexleyheath!

It was suggested I started my own group, and if I was home all the time I would have time and would consider it.

I am told if you want to start a group and want help setting it up organisations like DUK will offer help and support until you get it off the ground. Good luck.
