I had a thing through the post from Lloyds about joining up for their express prescription service, and there was also a bit on it to get a free Accu-chek Aviva Nano or Accu-Chek Aviva meter, up until 26/07/2011. I have always had Lifescan meters so thought why not try a different make and now have a very neat little Nano, and reading through the booklet I can set it to remind me to do post meal tests, and set an alarm clock on it. It is nice and small and I am sure it will fit in my pocket.

I also had another thing through the post from Bayer who had 200 meters to give away if you went to their website this is the link: Bayer

Anyone use any of the Accu-Chek meters?

My main meter is an Accu chek Aviva and I also have a nano. I'm a little distrustful of the nano because there is a known problem with it saying batteries need replacing when they don't - I had to return my original one because of this and I know it is a known problem because I have read elsewhere of exactly the same thing. Having said that it is a nice little meter and some people have used them without problem. For me, it is a spare meter and I use my larger, but trustworthy, Aviva 🙂 Roche are pretty good with free batteries and BG logbooks, I think you can order new ones every 3-4 months, plus I got free software and cables (which sadly doesn't work on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop :()

Been using the nano for the last 2 to 3 years, great little meter and very compact and is by far the best meter I have ever owned.

I had a nano meter,

The battery is a known fault, it's caused by the contacts being depressed, but because of the design of the meter, you can't get to them to pull them up to get better contact... As you would be able to do with other meters..

But I did find though if you take out the batteries give them a rub then swap there position when you replace the meter fires back up.. And I reduced the amount of times it cut out by bunging a bit of card under the batteris to get better contact...

I know use the Combo meter, which is designed for my insulin pump, uses the same test strips so I keep the Nano as and emergency meter in case pump meter goes AWOL
