Living with a Long-Term Illness written by Frankie Campling & Michael Sharpe (part of Oxford University Press The Facts series) published 2006, ISBN 0198528825. Frankie Campling is a woman with a long-term illness (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / Myalgic Encephalitis) and Michael Sharpe is a male doctor / medical researcher / psychologist.

I actually got the book to help me in my work with people with long-term / chronic conditions, but found a few points that helped me directly eg managing dealings with medical teams, managing expectations, and an insight into how medics think about situations.
