Is liver function always tested when we have our HbA1c?

Not always I think - I had a few liver function tests early on after diagnosis, when my bilorubin levels were elevated. GP thinks I may have (harmless) Gilbert's Syndrome. I don't think it's been tested for a couple of years now.

If you are on Statins, it should be.

Otherwise I think it's every so often when they think they haven't had one for a while and perhaps better just check ! LOL

There are a number of reasons we should be tested, some of us because of our medication and others because of a low carb diet. Next time they do your bloods for Hba1c ask if they can do the liver test as well.
