So sad to see it tonight that a man called in, he is very poorly and they recognised he got diabetes that they send him to hospital :-(

Ah! Missed it. What had he been 'embarrassed' about - had he been to his own doctor and they had missed the diabetes?

Prob to see his GP!! Or too busy!! It was over on the phone or online, they just confirmed its diabetes and send him to hospital. I find it sad that some people felt they couldn't go or couldn't be bother to see their GPs

I haven't watched that program for a long time. I do know that some people are frightened of doctors and worry that they will waste a Drs time - or think they will get better. I know that some hospitals were previously work-houses and there were people who did not want to go to the hospital as they still saw them in the old context and tried to avoid them.

Yes, I remember my dad was the same, he refused to go and see a doctor after his bad experience in hospital with TB during WW2. Sadly he suffered in silence and died of cancer without anyone knowing he had cancer! That's what it's made me sad that people are scared to see their GP.
