Hi,

last thursday i woke up with a odd blister on my foot - being a good diabetic (and being dragged by my ear by my other half) i went to the doctor. I was given some anti-biotics.

a week later and its not really looking much better (pictures here - they are a bit gross - http://simonrudd.info/c**p/foot/). My parents want me to go back to the doctors but i'm wondering if i should just finish the anti-b's first.

any advice would be gratefully received :D

thanks

Simon

Ouch! that looks sore :(

Are you putting any dressings on it ? How many days left of anti-b treatment ? Does it smell ?

Thing is it does look infected and I would see GP again personally. GP should really take a swab and send off to lab to see what anti-biotic/treatment will be best for that particular bacteria.

It may also need some appropriate dressings from the practice nurse to aid the healing and keep it clean etc

(impressive sock cat btw !!)

Hi Simon, I would also recommend going back to the doctor as it could be the particular anti-biotics are not strong enough or not working. Better safe than sorry! Hope all goes well and it heals soon 🙂

The Doctor said to just leave it and allow it to dry out - so no dressing. i have 2 days worth of Anti-b's left.

haha i do a lot of sock toys :D i liked the cat thought it started the gallery of on a high note 😉

Thanks Northerner 🙂 my folks are worried about going bad - i think it'll just take a little time to heal :D

Go back to the doctors, it doesn't look right at all to say you are on anti b's

Btw what are your sugars like?

I think the anti-b's need reviewing - do see your GP 🙂

I'm with the others. That doesn't look good at all. Back to the docs with you ASAP!

Lauras87 - i think its drier than it was - my sugars are always up and down - between 6-12 usually.

Hanmillmum & AlisonM - thanks maybe i'll see what they have to say :D

You know we'll nag you until you do Simon! 😉

its the only way i ever get anything done - now if i could hire you guys to nag me to write my book i'll 😉

Simon, I've also got my nagging hat on! You must go back to the doctor again. It really doesn't look good at all. I have an open, bleeding and infected wound on my tummy. It is so bad I have to dress it every day. I've had this for 16YEARS. So don't take any chances go back and get it looked at again. I know I would be at the dr's again and again until it heals. Hope I haven't scared you to much with my story but it might make you go back.

That looks seriously on it's way to being a diabetic ulcer and I'd not be leaving it for even 5 minutes let alone 2 days Simon.

Please get it looked at by someone a bit more up the chain than your GP. Try A&E.

I would say listen to everybody and get something done about it. I would also say thanks Spiritfree for your post. I will try and promise myself NEVER to re-use a needle again. :D

I went back and they said the hole had become an Ulcer - not sure how serious that is - but changed the anti-biotics and dressed it (in a classic cocktail dress with matching clutch) have to go back on wednesday 🙂

Just as well you went back Simon. I don't know what exactly they treat ulcers with, but I hope you are getting the correct treatment.

Sounds very fetching Simon 🙂 I hope that the new treatment means that you will be saying goodbye to it very soon - good luck with the appointment on Wednesday 🙂

Sounds sexy! Now don't forget to take it out to dinner 🙂

But on a more serious note, glad you got it sorted
