A diabetes sufferer had her life transformed after replacing injections with a single tablet.

For 54 years, Janet Locke, from Lincoln, needed an insulin shot twice a day.

But after being diagnosed with a rare form of the condition, she now has just one pill with her breakfast.

Maturity Onset Diabetes of Youth (MODY) is a genetic form of diabetes that affects the pancreas's ability to store insulin.

People generally do not need to take insulin and can be treated with small doses of Gliclazide tablets, which are often used in type two diabetes.
