I have been suffering from lightheadedness, feelings of being off balance and queasiness for a couple of years. Is it possible that it is related to being diabetic. My GP didn't seem to think so.I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?

It could be a side effect of the medication, is it there all the time or occasionally, do you test your blood glucose when it happens as it can be a symptom of either high or low blood glucose.
There could be a lot of different reasons, ear infection, migraine, Meniere's disease, vertigo.
Your GP should investigate not dismiss it but the more info you can give about when it happens the better.

And what's your BP doing when this happens?

I don’t know. I’m pre diabetic and I have my appointment with the diabetic nurse on the 14 th of march. I’m on regular meds as I have osteoarthritis and functional neurological disorder

Sorry to hear about your dizzy spells @bobbinbrown :(

How long have you been experiencing them?

Is your GP planning to run any checks to try to find out what might be causing them?

Yes we have gone through all the usual checks, blood pressure, ears, eyes tested.I've tried betshistine tablets to no avail. He has now referred me to a specialist which could be months of course.I have been prediabetic for a few years and it was probably around the time the lightheadedness started,so I began to wonder if there was any connection.Thank you for asking.

Have you tried Buccastem tablets @bobbinbrown ? They’re available over the counter and just one tablet dissolved in your cheek/between your lip and gum stops dizziness and nausea. They were a godsend to me. Your doctor can also prescribe them too or you can get them at a chemist.
