I'm a leftie as well:D

Has anyone noticed that 100% of the 'lefty' responses have been by T1s? Statistics never lie, do they?!

That just made me laugh :D Does seem that more T1s on here at least are left handed :D would be an interesting poll to find out what type of Diabetes people have and which hand they use for writing.

I'm sure this has come up in the past but I can't find the discussion. I think eye colour also came into the equation - I have green eyes...

I think the usual ones are also heterochromia and ear infections.

For the record, I do have eyes that have two colours in each iris and I had a VERY severe ear infection but many years before developing T1.

Both my parents are left-handed but weirdly, I am completely right-handed.

I think it often misses a generation - my sister and I are both lefties, but both parents right-handed. My sister's daughters are right-handed, but my great-nephew is a leftie. My grandad was also probably a leftie, forced to write with his right in those days.

Alex is a leftie with blue eyes and blonde hair:D His older sister is a leftie - non-D. There used to be something about rhesus negative in a mother or family member being a link but nothing came of it. I also strongly believe that Autism/Aspergers is linked with Type 1. Alex's dad has Aspergers and many on the CWD list have a family member or sibling with it.😱🙂Bev

My blue eyed leftie daughter isn't T1, my green eyed rightie son is! Bugger- that blows both of those theories! And SHE had the ear infections as a baby/toddler, HE had chest infections, so that has blown that theory too.

Leftie's are taking over the world though I have noticed from my involvement with young children. That, or I attract them!!

Back to the original thread, I have to say that with the amount of other things that are tested on annual reviews at least T1s have regular checks for cholesterol, BP, etc etc, so actually have other problems picked up along the way.

I rarely visit the doctor and truly can't remember the last time he checked my BP, and my cholesterol was last checked 10 years ago, so I could potentially be sitting on a timebomb. At least my son will have things like that picked up and dealt with.

I think I've successfully proved the point about stats based on small samples being rubbish, i.e. most of the sweeping statements published in the Daily Fail! :D
