THE gap in average life expectancy for women in different parts of Yorkshire has risen to five years despite an overall improvement across the region, new official statistics have revealed.
Women born in Hambleton, North Yorkshire, can expect to live 85.5 years compared with just 80.5 for those born in Hull at the same time, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The new figures for the 2010-12 period, the latest available, show the gap between the highest and lowest women?s life expectancies in the region has risen from 4.6 years in 2009-11.
