I've never had them but I know quite a few folk on here swear by them so just thought you may want to know they have been discontinued from quite a few stores recently so please take this as a warning that you may no longer be able to get them x

I loved them the first time I tried them but found them very heavy. I started cutting them in half and freezing them and just having half a one. Then I think I sickened myself of them, I might give them another go one day if they continue them. Don’t often shop in Lidl as wrong end of town for me. Still love Burgen as I find it nice and light so won’t miss them.

There was a scare about this last year but they appeared again not long after.
I am using at the moment as I like them with soup.

If I had one of them I'd never have room for soup LOL

I find em hard work to eat - maybe that's why they reckon they do you good - includes strenuous exercise?

No Lidl near me so I've only had one once - alright but weighed a ton and was a bit on the chewy side. What I couldn't understand are the LCHF brigade who raved on about bread not being needed, tasteless, a waste of time and just eat the filling and yet were the ones who were wetting themselves over these things.

I can only eat half a one toasted. Too dense for me I’m afraid.

I have one every morning when I am in the UK as a fried Bacon,3 rashers, and Egg sandwich. I simply love them but limit myself to 1 per day but they are fabulous.
The only criticism I have is that I need to get there earlyish to get some, they sell out rapidly, I am going to start freezing them when I get home.
Even if I was not diabetic I would stll eat them
Wonderful alternative to bread.

I don't have them as often now but that's mainly because I tend to use Aldi more than Lidl these days. I did go through a phase of having them so often that I got a bit fed up with them. And I have a crown that keeps coming loose & one of these rolls would always knock it out.😱

I love these, but I have always preferred bread with plenty of body! I wouldn’t attempt to eat one as a closed roll as they are too large and the crust is chewy. I prefer them lightly toasted and can definitely manage a whole one no problem. Still there in our Lidl. I tend to stock up and freeze them then they are always fresh. I don’t think I have ever eaten one next day so perhaps the chewiness increases as the freshness wanes.

I usually freeze on day of purchase but leave 2 out. I have noticed them to be less chewy even 2 days later. I usually defrost mine in microwave.

Warming them does make them less chewy.

After reading through this thread I don't think I'll be hop flippin or jumpin to Lidls to buy their rolls!:( Sorry Lidl!

The birds get my Burgen crusts, no wonder I have never had curly hair! :D

And I'll quote Pete's eldest grand daughter, not long after Pete and I got together - aged roughly 7 at the time when we were all eating sandwiches for lunch.
Me - Oh, aren't you going to eat your crusts?
GD - No, Grandma. And don't say 'They'll make your hair curl', either! That's just a LIE that grown-ups tell you - because it does NOT!
Stunned silence.
Me - That's perfectly true S. They used to tell me that when I was little too cos my hair is as straight as yours and it's cost me an absolute fortune ever since to get some curl in it! I'll never say it again, promise.

I have kept that promise for 20 years now!

Horrible things so not surprised Lidl have done away with them, much like eating the sole of a shoe.
