Libre

Thank you I will pass this onto my husband. He did not design the app only the software on the sensor. But he can pass all of this on. Unfortunately he doesn't have any influence but everything he can pas on will help. Thank you Helen

Here is an example of a new (looks like dodgy) sensor applied this morning - loads of signal loss (it still is now!) - said I was 2.8 but finger prick was 5.8 - I know they take a while to settle down but this one hasn't worked properly from the start and will not scan

If it continues overnight I will be ripping it off in the morning and getting a replacement from Abbott

Thank you : unfortunately they do fail. We had one fail as soon as we left hospital.

Mine has just sprung back into life after nearly five hours - brilliant technology and it is great when it works but important that we report when it doesn't so that the tech experts like your husband @HelenNicholas can use their expertise to iron out the problems - really appreciate you asking for feedback 🙂

Thanks for reaching out for feedback @HelenNicholas despite this doubtless being a rather stressful time for you.

I already commented in your original thread with my suggestion that the official LibreLink app just reads and provides real-time access to the sensor data (for other apps to consume), which I think then obviates many of the requests made here as they could be handled by 3rd party apps. I suppose there will still be a requirement for Abbott to provide a minimum viable product, though presumably what they have so far meets that in their eyes.

I'd suggest that your son tries (if on Android) the combination of Juglucco + XDrip+ to see what the CGM system could look like and compare that with the standard Librelink app offering. There are also Apple options, though I don't know off-hand what the options are.

Similar to others who have posted here, I also suffer from signal drop-outs, it would be interesting to understand why these occur. I had originally assumed that they were always hardware failures, but I sometimes get signal drop-outs which last from 15min to some number of hours (up to 8), and then the sensor comes back to life and works for multiple days. These are not simply sensor errors, but no sensor signal being transmitted at all. Debugging these problems is likely rather difficult to do, especially as looking at teardowns the devices are built using a companion chip which handles the Bluetooth comms (EM9304) so the fault may lie in the companion chip firmware.

My list of failure modes is here: https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/cgm-log-how-long-do-they-last-why-do-they-fail.114108

I also suffer from calibration problems with some sensors, which I think is because I don't have much fat on my arms so if I happen to choose the wrong spot for a new sensor I'll have ongoing problems with it. There's not much that can be done about this. I must, however, try a different area to see if that improves matters (even though it's not officially "allowed").

Totally. Thank you. Nothing is ever perfect, but it's good to give him the feedback.

Changed mine after 24hrs (with roughly 19 of them not scanning or communicating with Bluetooth) - Abbott are sending a replacement
