Just taken my first Libre reading and wanted to see what it was in comparison with the glucose testing strips so I know what I'm doing with my insulin and food etc. Libre says 10.6 and strip says 11.7 (I had a drink that I now realise was super bad). The strips have been very accurate to how I've been feeling so far.

Is the difference likely to be the placement of the reader?

They’re measuring different things @Laura P Personally I’d say your results were pretty close and very good.

The Libre measures interstitial fluid not blood so you’re not comparing like with like. Always go by the fingerprick result if there’s a big difference.

The Libre Academy has some great information to help you understand the way Libre (and other CGM sensors) works, and the potential differences between interstitial glucose and capillary blood glucose that it is helpful to be aware of.

I seem to remember there’s an illustration of a train on a very hilly track that helps visualise what’s happening 🙂
