Hi Everyone,
I mentioned to my consultant at my last appointment that with the current sensor allowance of 2 per calendar month, patients are left a month short of sensors each year. I explained, 52 weeks divided by 2 weeks equals 26 sensors. We are currently given 24 per year.
I mentioned this to Abbott, that in fact the sensors should be designed to last 15 days. Seems they hadn't realised this.
They said speak to hospital about getting this revised.

You are entitled to 26 sensors per year though so just make sure you get one in early, I get 4 at a time now since asking to have it increased per prescription xx

Hi Kaylz,
I'm glad I asked now! Must be just my Doctors or NHS trust that are not requesting my doctor to prescribe enough.
Thanks

I think that's just a mixup. Most of my pills are prescribed in units of 28 (or 56, for Metformin which I take twice a day). I'm sure someone thinks of that as monthly (which it is, nearly), but I'm expected them to take them once (or twice) a day for the whole year. That fits in with two sensors of 14 days each, and I'm expected to use those the whole year (well, for 6 months, ending this month, pending the review).

There is no problem with tablets in packs of 28 or 56. You just get repeat prescriptions. There is no prohibition on exceeding the 12 lunar month issue of tablets within a year, so equally there should not be a restriction of 26 sensors per calendar year. It’s a nonsense, as the prescribing authorities well know.
