before you tell me, I know that I am very fortunate to have got my sensors on prescription.
This is for others in the same position.

I had a lot of problems finding a pharmacy who would dispense these.
I stuck with my usual pharmacy and worked with the manager to find a way through.
We thought we had sorted it a number of times, but then the pharmacy manager would get the wrong person at Abbott and get “ not possible” or “”we only provide hospital pharmacies” or ....
It took some time to get the definitive answer.

In conclusion a lot of pharmacies will say no if the item is not available from their usual suppliers, but
- Abbott will only take orders direct from the pharmacy, rather than from a chain.
- Each pharmacy has to set up its own account
Once done it arrives very quickly

Again apologies to those that have been unsuccessful in getting these on NHS.

That's interesting, our consultant last week commented that if we do get them they will probably have to be prescribed by the hospital team rather than the GP. Don't know what people who aren't seen by a hospital team are supposed to do then :(

From what I have read elsewhere it is being prescribed patchly across the country. The criteria also very variable.

For me the prescription for the sensors comes from my GP.
This was triggered in response to a letter from the Consultant.
The readers are only available from the hospital, and they are making the decisions about who gets them.
As you say, if you are not seen by the hospital I am not sure how you would get into the system
