Hi all,
I've recently started using the libre sensors and yesterday replaced my first one after 14 days of zero issues. However, since replacing it, the alarms on my phone haven't been working. Has anybody come across this? I've turned them off and back on (good old IT advice from myself!) but wonder if I've missed something in the replacement process?
Thanks everybody.

Did you start your new sensor with your phone or your reader?
Whilst you can scan with both if you start with the reader, alarms only sound on the device you started the sensor with.

Hiya, I don't have a reader? Just the app in my phone. It's only these last couple of days I've started heating about a reader!!

Is your new sensor definitely a Libre 2 and not an original Libre which doesn't have alarms?

Oh my, I was just about to go "yep, definitely a libre 2 because that's what I ordered" but I've just looked at the box and it isn't!! Mystery solved, thank you. I'll be getting on to Abbott customer services first thing.
The Abbott website is confusing and needs to be updated. I ordered a Libre 1 by mistake. Your phone does tell you there won't be any alarms.

Yeah, my phone does say that alarms "will only work once a freestyle libre 2 sensor has been started" but of course in my head I had a freestyle 2 sensor in so thought it was all part of the same issue!! Abbott were really good and are refunding me the unused sensor (I ordered 2) but the one in my arm will just have to stay put for now. Thanks.

Hi @Jen_T1 - have you asked your diabetes team about getting Libre prescribed instead of having to pay for it?

Funnily enough I had a GP appointment this morning about something unrelated and asked the question. I'm being referred as it's not a decision my GP can make apparently. Need to be assessed and I've not been under the care of the hospital for a looooooooooooong time, GP led care here

Good luck! I had to go down that route, having had GP led care for ages, and it took a lot of perseverence (I kept 'slipping through the net' and being ignored til I chased people, first my GP to do the referral, then the hospital to act on it). Make sure you have studied the list of criteria and decided how you fit it. Details are here.
I didn’t quite fit, but managed to swing it anyway. I had been self funding, and although my HbA1c hadn’t gone down, I could prove that I was achieving the same good level but with fewer hypos and hypers, having seen from my Libre results that Lantus wasn’t working for me (giving me night time hypos, and a split dose of Levemir was working better).

Shame I hadn't. seen this a bit earlier, , might have been able to push for the CGM that works with my pump! No wonder my consultant agreed so easily to the Libre (he knows I can be a force to reckon with at times 🙂 )

For me, the main criteria I fit, is the work one as it is far from practical to take a finger prick test, I work in nursing care which mean 12 hour shifts which at best are very busy to utter manic. So to take a test I'd have to leave the floor can't do the test where residents might be or see, I have to follow various protocols to ensure clinical h&S have been followed in a care setting...

But management are happy for me to carry my phone on me, and I can scan at will without having to leave the floor. Its been a bit of a god send over last couple of days with this heat.

Hello @Jen_T1 I'll have a look in my records as I did have a copy of the questions they asked me of which you had to reach a pass score of about 3/4. I'm not sure how you area works, I'm in Worcestershire.
The up side If I can find them is they'll give you a clue of what they will be looking for the down side is that I had a Hard drive issues which screwed all my email coms but I am slowly rebuilding it back.
Just remembered that I think I may have a 2nd reader which I received as a trial but I need to check as I may have given it to my Diabetic nurse.
I'll post an update shortly.

Best
