In the recent hot weather my husband's cgm seems to be really over reacting by going off with low alert when finger prick test shows at least 3 points higher can anything be done to stop the constant alarms other than switching it off !!

Is this during the night only? If so they are likely compression lows where he is lying on the sensor in his sleep and that can affect the flow of interstitial fluid to the filament and cause false lows. If it is happening during the day too than is the sensor coming loose? Many people are tossing and turning more in bed so compression lows are more frequently being experienced but gradually you learn to place it where you are less likely to put all your weight on it. Some people are certainly also having problems keeping their sensors securely attached in the hot weather because they are more sweaty and perhaps using sun creams more. Once the sensor starts to lift, if you stick it back down that can cause the filament to kink and cause it to gradually die and progressively read lower and lower until it tells you to replace it. I use an arm strap to support my sensor and don't have any problems but skin prep before application is also a key factor along with placement and finding just the right spot where it isn't right on a flexing muscle or somewhere that you will lie on it.

I find my Libre tends to read lower if I’m dehydrated, which is a factor in this very hot weather, I’ve definitely needed extra fluids the past few days.

What can be done?
- check your husband is not dehydrated
- check pressure has not been applied to the sensor (most common at night when we lie on our arm when asleep)
- if neither if these, report the faulty sensor to Abbott using the form on the Freestyle website and they will most likely replace it
