My GP has switched me to the Libre 2 following a polite, yet strongly worded letter from my consultant (GP wasn't aware of the Libre 2 and reluctant to switch me from the 1 when I last spoke to him about 6 months ago as he said it was very new and would be more expensive - don't think he believed me when I told him it was the same price and also soon to be superseded by the Libre 3).

Anyway, I was shocked to receive the Libre 2 patches last week when I collected my prescription from the chemist. I currently use my phone (LibreLink) to scan my sensor. Will it automatically work when I pop on my new Libre 2 sensor next week? Is there anything that I need to do or download? Any help gratefully received as always!

Libre 2 works with LibreLink.
The only thing I recommend checking is that the LibreLink you have on your phone has been updated. This usually happens automatically unless you disabled auto updates. The version I have on my Android phone is 2.5.3.6373.
if you use the Libre reader, the Libre 1 reader will enable Libre 2 sensors but will not receive the alarms.
You should be entitled to a free Libre 2 reader which can be applied for on their website.

Caveat. I understand you will only get alarms on the device you start the sensor with. I am due to put my first Libre2 sensor on on Monday. I still need to read the literature... but I do belong to a Libre FB group and I have known about starting the sensor with the device you will want the alarms on for some time.

That's fab, thank you for your advice! I had visions of Librelink not recognising the patch as I am switching from a 1 to a 2, but sounds like it will be fine.
