May I ask what causes values (mmol/L) to be displayed? Is the display of a value only triggered when I actually scan the senso with my phone?

Yes. (I believe so, anyway.)

Obviously that makes it less useful than it used to be (when you could only read the value by scanning, so your logbook would naturally accumulate plenty of values).
