I would be so grateful if anyone can suggest why this is happening and/or advise me on how I might fix it?

The sensor only has 8 hours to go so I thought this might be a factor. However, even with a new sensor on the scan button won’t respond, so I can’t start the new sensor.

Sorry, what is NFC?
I’ve been outside the UK this week, so using different networks etc, but as far as I know I haven’t changed any app settings and it’s been working okay until today.

NFC is the Near Field Communication. It is the technology your phone uses to scan the sensor. If NFC is switched off (this may be because your phone is in airplane mode or you accidentally turned it off when selecting a different network) scanning will not work.
It is the same technology that is used for Apple Pay if you use that.

I have not used an iPhone so I cannot advise how to check whether it is switched on or not.

When this happens to me, I close the app down fully and restart it.

Thanks everyone. In the end I got through to Abbot and they talked me through uninstalling, reinstalling, and then rebooting the whole phone and that has done the trick.

Glad you got it sorted @DeeM

Such a kerfuffle when things like this happen!
