Hi everyone hope your all well. 🙂. An update so far. Been very steady for a few months now only using qa. Was waking a little high in the am around 7 ish but very stable in the day 5~8, before and after food. When I did use levemir it caused alot of hypos during the day and early afternoon even when reducing qa. So, stopped the levemir and rarely had hypos 🙂. Now though the last couple of days been waking with bloods at 9~10. Through the day still very stable. I think I should use levemir for night time but am a bit reluctant as I don't want/need it during the daytime. From past experience even as little as two units would cause hypos in the day although that was some time ago. I know from reading other peoples posts a pump would be ideal and probably sort this out as I think it is dp :(, as I am usually 6~7 around 2~3 am so another concern would be going hypo before dp starting . Am waiting to make an appointment with dsn as a pump was mentioned last time but she is currently off sick lol.
Other than that I'm doing great and felt the best I've felt for years 🙂.
Apologies for the essay but havnt posted in a long time, but hope to be here more regularly in the future!

Brett, you sound very similar to me - I stopped lantus last April and do occasionally have higher than hoped for waking levels. I have tried the occasional 2 units of lantus, but too much. It does sound like a pump would be the best solution for you - good luck!

Yep, remember you posting about it. Are you still off it?. Been on and off regularly but this is the longest period being about 2 months. Was waking with slightly raised.levels of 6~7.5. Not to bad and didn't warrant levemir. Last few days been more 8 and 9s. Higher than id like. They did used to be this before and started with 2 units, and as you said was too much as day fasting tests proved. Also midday I need 3 times less qa than morning and late evening, suggesting spluttering.pancreas midday.

You could do with an insulin with a later peak than either L or L, but not one that hangs around too long, couldn't you.

Trouble is I don't think they've invented one - though a pump would do it, you're right.

Is she long term sick? Could you see your consultant instead? Or a DSN at some other hospital? Or do you have any community DSNs you could see? (you'd have to ask your GP about the second two)

Hi trophywench, that name still makes me smile lol. No, not long term sick hopefully back next week. Would like to see the same one as we did discuss possibility of pump last time. Had previously tried a medium acting insulin think out was humalin, not sure though, but counteracted dp far too much causing early morning hypos :(. Was worth a try though.

My understanding is that levemir takes about 6 hours to reach it's full effect
So if you go to bed reasonably late then a small dose may take care of your problems

Am going to try a small dose tonight, fingers crossed
