When do you guys think is best times if taking twice daily to have it ??

I used to take my levemir around 2000 when I was on it. Worked out quite nicely that one. It doesn't really matter what time you choose to take it, just make sure you take it at the same time every day.

I take mine 6am and 6pm, bit annoying that i have to get up at the weekends to take it, but i just take it and go back to sleep 🙂

When I was on split does of levemir I split it 12 hours apart, so 7:15am and 7pm (roughly).

I take mine around 8pm to 10pm . was on twice a day but now only on one but a bigger dose lasts around 12 -18hrs

Mine was roughly 9.30 to 10 pm (to avoid hypos and highs in the night) and whenever I got up next day, as long as I had it before 9am ish. But the earlier the better. (Preferably before I woke up. Which is why the pump is better for me!)

It doesn't have to be a 12 hour split, you test your basal (with fasting blocks) and as long as it's keeping your BG steady meantimes - you take it when your body requires it to be taken !

Our wee one has her morning dose at 8am and the second at 5:30 pm.

Best time to take it?

After consultation with a diabetes specialist nurse or other health professional, taking into account your lifestyle eg avoiding injections at times when you are usually travelling / sleeping etc.

Good luck with finding help.

Monday to Friday 6:30am and 22:30pm..............

the weekends I take my morning dose later at about 8:30am [that's a long lie for me.......🙂]

I take mine Mon - Fri - 07:00 and 22:30 and then when I wake up on Saturday and Sunday, usually about 08:30...too scared to wait any longer!

I wonder if I wait too long between morning and evening injections?? I was on Lantus and just did that before I went to bed (about 10.30pm) and when I was put on Levemir I was told to just add another injection in the morning...what do you think? Does it matter?

I've always taken mine at 8am and 10pm the same times it was given to me on my last few days in hospital.

I am pretty much on the same timings as you, taking my evening dose later to help with the dawn phenomenon.............

Levemir is supposed to last between 12-18 hours, no doubt for me it doesn't last the full 18, probably not even 15, but because of the DP, its worth compensating with extra Novorapid if needs be......

In my opinion it would be best to start off with an even split, as then your getting the best out of it............

I used to use 80 in the morning to cope with the days eating and then 60 in the evening (T2 don't forget) so as to avoid night time hypo. I now take Victoza in the evening but still have 80 units levemir in the morning.
