Type 1
Hi

I am new to the site an looking for some help please.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 in April this year and have my 8 unit levemir dose once a day at 7am and novorapid at meals.

today i had my levemir ay 7am but due to a very hectic work schedule (teacher, school trips etc) i had a nap after school and must have woken up thinking it was 7 am tomorrow morning and taken my next levemir dose.

Therefore today i have had 8 units at 7am and another 8 units at 7pm which should have been in 12 hours time.

Whats the best thing to do???

I am concerned about having constant hypos and a little worried.

help please!!

thanks

If it were me I would halve my tea time novorapid dose (assuming you haven't had tea yet) and have a snack before bed as well. Maybe set an alarm to test in the night, and keep some lucozade handy. Be aware you might have more low readings tomorrow as well as the doses will overlap.

Yup - test intensively and firefight with carbs. Bedtime snack (Unless you are like really low at the time) should be slower acting carbs not eg Lucozade or whatever fast glucose you treat your hypos with.

It would be wise to test at least once during the night as well to make sure you aren't dropping too low ... so set your alarm to waken you and test. PITA but far better than having a long-drawn out hypo.

I'd consider halving novo doses thru lunch tomorrow.........

Thank you for your help

will monitor constantly and just took a half dose of novorapid.

would you then have normal 8 units at 7am as usual??

First, welcome to the forum.

Second, see how your BG is in the morning. I take 16 lev am and 8 lev pm and once took 16 pm by mistake, didn't affect me one little bit, but we're all different so you need to test and base on your readings, I suspect you'll be good for your usual morning dose.
