Levemir Dosage

I take 120 units of Levemir at night. I understand from reading the forums that splitting the dose will work better. I also take between 10-20 units of Novorapid before meals and really watch the carbs. I try to engage with the NHS but usually get told to eat rice and jacket spuds by the nurse, which might as well be Dairy Milk for the effects it has on my Blood Sugar. Should i split the Levemir and take it on a 50/50 split? All advice welcome.

Sorry to hear you are not getting advice you find helpful from your nurse.

Doses tend to be very individual, so it is difficult to advise, but yes many people do find that splitting Levemir (which tends to have a shorter duration and may not be lasting 24 hours) allows it to work better. 50:50 and 12 hours apart is a reasonable starting point, but really you would need to do some fasting tests to see how that was working. Splitting may also help as my understanding is that very large single doses may not absorb as evenly and reliably as smaller ones.
