My Bg's are on average between 7.6 to 9 fasting . Novamix 30 14u given.
pre lunch can drop rapidly to sometimes 2.9 (oat biscuits taken asap) prior to lunch.
Pre tea time can be anything from 10.00 to 17. Novamix 30 14u.

I have been advised by a doctor friend I should change to Levemir long acting and then take a short acting one with meals .

Anyone else on this regime?.

Hi Veganlass

I am on MDI and am type2, I was on Nonorapid and Levimer, but changed from Levimer to insulatard which was my personal choice. You could be far better off with your control if you go onto Novorapid and Levimer, with the mix you are using, you can't adjust doses.

John.

I'm on novorapid and levemir as well. Get brilliant control t2 as well

I only inject novo at lunch time (3 to 4u) and tea time (5 to 6u) as I can manage breakfast without. I have 10 u of levemir at bedtime.

Well worth a chat with your gp/team x

Hi Im a T1, Im on MDI, Lantus & Apidra... same system as which you talk.

I couldnt imagine been on the routine 2 x a day injections any more. It opens a whole world of freedom to you but takes some upfront work to get it right.

Whilst the basal bolus routine is a little more hard work, it offers so much more freedom and affords better control. I'm a Levimar/Novorapid user and it works well for me! Takes some effort to get your long acting insulin right to start with and then to figure out your ratio of rapid for your meals but once you've got those figured it really does allow you limit those highs and lows. Good luck if you choose to go down this road.

Levemir will help satisfy your background insulin needs with much more flexibility.........

You may even find that with an accurately calculated dose of levemir you may not need much in the way of a bolus dose......

Worth a go in my opinion............[as a type 1].......🙂

Thanks folks. I am due to see the DSN in january. Looks like most of you are on the same blend.
