Me again, thanking you for responses to previous threads, and now asking about blood sugar levels and insulin units. Mine have been very high but are now responding to insulin, Insuman Basal. How many units of insulin do you take each day to keep diabetes under control. And what are your blood sugar levels at the end of the day, after a main meal - assuming you have that early evening, teatime. You see, I know what it should be after meals, but mine isn't, and bearing in mind the drop overnight, I worry that if the evening reading is low, then it will drop too far by morning. How much does it usually drop?
Thank you and Merry Christmas to all.

There isn't a one size fits all so you have to work to find what is right for you as the individual you are, needs can change due to stress, illness, time of day, time of year, heat, cold and so much more but the more you live it and record your findings, the easier it is to deal with changing it, what are you going to bed on? And how much are you dropping by? xx

Hi. First note that Basal insulin will help reduce your background BS but not to the same extent that having two insulins i.e. Basal & Bolus. If you have excess weight then having a low-carb diet is normally very important to reduce insulin resistance. If you are slim then you may need a Bolus insulin added which you would take before each meal. Are you on any other medication?
