Hi. I’ve been testing for about four weeks now and am keeping a log along with what I eat. My question is are there any specific levels, or range of levels I should be aiming for which I can feel proud of?!! My morning levels are usually between 6 and 7 but what about pre and after meals? Is there a range which is desirable? I have been very very good, apart from two days when I just couldn’t be! Thanks.

Flakie...the range for type 2s is between 4-7mmols before eating...wanting a rise of no more than 2-3mmols two hours after food...aiming for no more than 8.5mmols...your waking levels sound fine...are within range...any reduction in your BG is good...something to be proud of...we are all aiming to reduce our BG levels...achieve good management/control of our diabetes...that takes time...never a good idea to rush...better to take things at a steady pace...find a routine that's suitable for you...one you can sustain long term...you've made a good start...will forward you the link to the desired ranges.

Thank you Bubbsie. Sounds like I’m on the right road then. It’s just reassuring to know this. It’s hard work isn’t it changing the way you eat and looking for stuff you can tolerate? Really appreciate your help with this. Thanks.🙂

It is difficult Flakie ...just sent you the blood glucose ranges...should help...it does say 90 minutes after food...I usually wait for two hours...just a personal preference...any change to our diet/lifestyle is hard initially...but...it does get easier...then you get to the point where it gets to be like second nature...its very early days for you yet...great start...testing your BG...the best way to see how what we eat impacts on our diabetes...good luck...if you have any others questions...post them here...I daresay one of us will be able to provide an answer....

That’s great. Thanks. Looks like I’m hitting those targets on the whole with the odd blip so I’m pleased with that. I usually wait two hours as well and am normally keeping it within two points and sometimes lower so again I’m happy with that. Many thanks again.

Good...well done Flakie
