Does she manage it well or are you here because she is struggling to keep it under control and you want to help her? Do you know if she is on any medication for it and if so, which ones and how much?
We are here to offer whatever support we can to help you help her. It is wonderful that you have taken such a proactive step as to become a member here.

gliclazide maybe? does your mum test? what are her levels generally like? and what diet is she following?
xx

I imagine the other tablets are gliclazide, which encourage the pancreas to produce more insulin.
Has she made any dietary changes as that is the most important step with Diabetes along with regular exercise.... that doesn't have to be anything really exertive depending upon your level of physical fitness and your BG levels, but a good brisk walk for 15mins every day is a good start if she is able and if you or a friend can do it with her then she will feel more motivated and supported.
Diet wise, she needs to significantly reduce the carbohydrates in her daily food. That means cutting out all the sweet stuff but also reducing the amount of bread. pastry, pasta, rice, potatoes and breakfast cereals including porridge by at least half, but if her Blood Glucose levels are very high then cutting them out of her diet almost completely should make a significant difference and lower her levels.
Is she carrying a bit too much weight or is she of a medium to slim build? That can make a difference to what she can eat instead of those starchy foods like potatoes and rice, but eggs meat fish and mushrooms are all good. I start the day on a 2 egg mushroom omelette and sometimes I add cheese, onions, peppers or even ham to it.... these are all low carbohydrate foods and I have it with a nice salad with lettuce, cucumber, a couple of cherry tomatoes and some avocado. That keeps me going for the rest of the day with just a few nuts or a chunk of cheese or some olives at lunchtime and then a meal with meat or fish and plenty of veg like cabbage, cauliflower, kale, courgettes, aubergine and spinach and maybe just one or two small pieces of potato in the evening.
Fruit is quite high in natural sugars but these are still carbohydrates and will raise the Blood Glucose, so limiting fruit to just one portion a day and avoiding tropical fruits like banana and pineapple and mango etc. Berries like raspberries or strawberries or blackberries are best and make a nice dessert with some creamy Greek natural yoghurt or cream. I add a little ground almonds and mixed seeds like pumpkin and sesame and sunflower just to give it more texture and roughage.
Hopefully the above will give you some idea of what may help her but if she is already eating a very low carb diet and her readings are still high then she may have been misdiagnosed and need further testing for Type 1 diabetes.

Hi and welcome, I can only agree with what the others have said, diet is so important with type 2, making the right changes can make a huge difference 🙂

i upload the medicine she is taking ,
that is so help full to get the idea of what she need to have to balance the diabetes . now her main concern is as i write earlier is her eye sight as she got one time from previous days the right side of her eye was blind for only one day. starting from that day she become worried . is there any advice regarding of it ?
once again i appreciate ur help and concern .

@kream you still haven't told us what levels she has or what her diet consists of?

we aren't medically trained so if worried and in doubt go and get it checked out so only advice regarding her eye would be to go to the opticians

Kream, are you based in the UK?

no am from Ethiopia , Africa

You will have to bear in mind that most contributors to this forum are from the UK. Diabetes is diabetes no matter where you are based and the principles for coping with it are the same. There are however big differences in how the medical system works in different countries and things we might do here are not available elsewhere and things done elsewhere might not be available here. A good example is you saying your mum is "category B" and "254 is the measurement". I'm guessing that category B is what we would call type 2 but I cannot guess at what the measurement of 254 could be referring to.

Don't let this stop you asking questions, we are here to help but sometimes we might be asking you questions to make sure that we understand each other.

i would be very happy to answer for any helpful questions . i wont mind it ,i wish to do more than this for my mom as she would do any thing for me . plus i really apprciate ur help as well.

The metformin medication is the standard first thing to try when diabetes is diagnosed so we are familiar with that. The Glitisol would appear to be similar to Gliclizide which is the next level of treatment in the UK so it would appear that your medical system is following the path that would be followed here for treating type 2 diabetes where blood glucose levels are high.

Do you have any more information about the 254 measurment? Was it from a blood test? Also, does your mum have access to an optician who could find out what is causing her vision problems?

If the 254 value was a finger stick test it could be the mg/dl value used for blood glucose tests in the USA, Europe and Africa. That value converts to 14.1mmol/L in the system we use in the UK.

exactly you are right

It is wonderful that you are wanting to help your Mom. If that is her average sort of readings then her sight problems may possibly be fixed by reducing her Blood Glucose readings or it may be long term damage as a result of persistently high Blood Glucose readings over that 8 year period. If it is the latter then I believe there is medication to help prevent it from deteriorating, but it is still important for her to get her readings down.
Does she have a Blood Glucose Meter and strips to test her blood herself?
Can you give us an idea of what she eats throughout the day.... for example a list of all the things she ate and drank yesterday.... so that we can perhaps suggest possible lower carbohydrate alternatives.

sure i will get back to you with list of the meal she been taking yesterday. and also she have the blood measurement but not for diabetes.
