SWIMMERS in Brentwood have been found to be bobbing mid table in a new league of regular swimmers published ahead of Diabetes UK's challenge for people to swim 22 miles at their local pool.

According to the league table, based on Sport England data, 7.3 per cent of the adults in Brentwood say they swim once a week putting it 111st out of 221 local authorities.

Brentwood lags behind Basildon, which comes in at 13th in the table as 9.4 per cent of adults swim once a week, followed by Harlow at number 50 (8.6 per cent), Chelmsford at number 53 (8.3per cent) and Maldon 103rd (7.4 per cent).

I suspect, countrywide, lack of facilities or expense due to council cuts plkays a part in how many swim regularly :( So much for 2012 'legacy' 🙄
