ROTARY Club member, John Greedy has received the highest honour from the Ledbury Rotary Club for his role in helping to launch a footcare project that has saved countless limbs and lives.

Club President Mark Waller recently presented Mr Greedy with a sapphire Paul Harris jewel for his outstanding work in connection with the tackling foot problems caused by diabetes.

It was as in 2000, after links were forged between the Rotary Club in Tobago and Ledbury Rotary, following visits by Mr Greedy, that fellow members first heard of the regular amputations that were happening in the Caribbean, due to high incidences of diabetes.

This is because diabetes can deaden sensation in the feet and foot damage, such as ulceration, is sometimes not noticed until it is too late.
