The biomedical scientist specialises in diabetes and is heading up the world's most extensive investigation into how genetics can affect the function of pancreas transplants in people with type 1 diabetes.
Pancreas transplants are not as common as kidney or liver transplants but they are a successful treatment method for certain people with type 1 diabetes.
