DIABETES UK is encouraging those affected by the condition to join Steyning?s reformed voluntary group.
After holding a ?successful? launch event, the organisation is inviting people to get involved, either as a member or as part of the committee.
As well as providing invaluable support and advice, the group offers the opportunity to take part in a range of activities, from fundraising for research to influencing local healthcare services.
The president of Diabetes UK, Richard Lane OBE, was present at the event. He has type 1 diabetes where insulin-producing cells in the pancreas are destroyed, and he was one of the first people in the UK to receive islet cell transplants in 2005.
