I've just seen my latest Hba1c result and it's 46, down from 116 at diagnosis in October 17. Very pleased. According to the DiabetesMyWay website it is within normal limits.
I haven't seen my doctor yet but how long until they start reducing my medication? I'm taking Glimeperide 2mg daily.
Might have a wee celebration tonight lol!

Chrissie - well done! Whisky is carb free LOL

I think they'll probably want to see if you maintain the sort of BGs that achieved the 46 HbA1c result first. But since you've obviously adopted a lower carb diet and are doing well on it, it probably won't be that long before changes can be made. However your doctor is the person to make the decision with you cos he knows a lot more about you than we do here.

46 may not trigger a diagnosis of diabetes - but it certainly isn't non-diabetic 'yet'.

Fabulous results! 🙂 As @trophywench says, your GP will decide whether you need to reduce/stop medication - have you had any difficulties with it? If your levels have been pretty stable on it then stopping it may cause things to change, but your doctor may agree to a trial period without it to see if you can maintain good levels 🙂

Well done, you've clearly worked hard to achieve it! 🙂

Aye, brilliant work Chrissie. You must have worked hard to achieve that drop. You must feel so much better without all that glucose slopping around in your system. Bet you feel more clear headed, for sure.🙄

Keep up the good work🙂

Congratulations Chrissy - very well done!

Congratulations, you’ve obviously worked very hard

Thank you. I hope to get off the medication eventually more for the driving side of it but if it's working along with diet to keep my levels down so be it. I do have lows around lunchtime after taking my morning dose especially if I've been quite active so maybe need to up my carbs slightly to compensate. Onwards and upwards

I think that having lows is a very good reason to visit your doctor and propose a reduction in medication - having to eat carbs to counteract the effects of the pills you are prescribed is just pushing you away from what is right for your natural metabolism.
