They want me to stay on 4x500 Metformin per day but I'm very tempted to cut down to 3 and see what happens.
I’d stay on the medication as advised. Better to see if you can keep your a1c at 47 or reduce it further before changing medication, and it’s what you’ve been medically advised to do.

47! I happy with that given that I was 115 on diagnosis around 15 months ago.

Well done!

Great result. Many congratulations!

1500 mg per day of metformin has been established by a wad of research to be the minimum effective dose. There is a small gain with the starter loading dose of 500 mg, another gain with 1000mg and a big leap in effectiveness between 1000 and 1500 mg. There is another gain up to 2000mg ( which is a very common dose to be on). 2500 doesn't add a significant improvement on 2000.

Thanks. I understand that the jump from 1000 to 1500 is big, but I thought that cutting from 2000 to 1500 might not be too severe and might give me scope for raising it if needed at a later date.

I'm not in any way qualified though so if I do drop down I'll be testing to monitor any changes.

Well done.

Congratulations on your significantly reduced HbA1c @Dishevelled

Do you feel better in yourself having reduced your BG levels?

Were you experiencing any symptoms pre-diagnosis? And have they improved?
