Hi
Due to the job I do I quite often have evening meetings that I attend 1-2 a week at times.

I go to work and have breakfast and lunch as normal but then I'll be at a meeting somewhere for 6/7 finishing at 8/9. I then have to drive home which can see me ack as late as 11.

I'm struggling with this as 11 is way to late for me to have dinner which means I find myself picking up a McDonald's on the way home.

Any suggestions for what I could do to combat this would be greatly appreciated.

Take a butty box with some healthy options. I have smoked salmon and coleslaw as a go to late meal.

Can you eat before the meeting Emma? If you can I'd do as Owen suggests and take a meal with me, perhaps 2 smaller meals one to eat before the meeting and one after to keep you going? Soup is a good late meal, so if you have access to a microwave or a good flask that might be an option. I used to have a similar work pattern and it was always difficult not to end up eating quick but not so great food. I used to take a salad to eat before hand and soup for the journey back (by train not car 😉) in winter, and the rest of the time salad, and then hummus and oatbiscuits, or cheese and oat biscuits. I guess it depends on how low carb you want to go too, but I found the two smaller meals on late working days worked much better for me 🙂

I second the Subway salads. I have mine topped with grated cheese. Makes it more filling.

Personally I would opt for Owen's suggestion of taking an extra packed meal, my wife has got into mini frittatas (recipe http://www.ruled.me/hunger-buster-low-carb-bacon-frittata/) & makes up a batch for the week; I have the leftovers for lunch sometimes.... Easy to rewarm or just eat cold.

I made a batch of mini frittatas at the weekend. Take a couple to work with me every day.
