I’ve been struggling since October with Lantus burning and swelling issues. Had stroke 7 yrs ago and suffer nerve damage pain more in winter months. Taken 4 wks for drs practice nurse to speak with DSN. Who I hoped would change to Tresiba as I’d been told by various people it hurts less. Fast forward and they have sent Semglee to pharmacy!!! Same formulation so will this be same???

Next problem they sent disposable pens, I can’t press as limited hand strength I use reusable pens with cartridges….

I think Semglee only comes in disposable pens. It is a biosimilar insulin to Lantus, so I assume it will have the same mechanics, ie, it will sting!

Thank you for your reply, I guess I will have to battle again then. I was advised by hospital to ask for tresiba to stop the pain. But when drs contacted local DSN they issued this. From research seams to be a cheap form of Lantus. I can’t use disposable pens as cant push the tops down while holding pen still. I’m fine with novo rapid as reusable pen so easy to press. Same with reusable pen of Lantus that’s side button.

With Lantus it’s the acidity I think. It is a low pH solution, and as that is neutralised by the body, and the pH rises, the solution crystallises to form a ‘depot’ of insulin which then gradually releases, or something like that!

Yes except it sometimes doesn't disperse properly and just sits there - can stay there for over 10 years until it either just loses its potency or otherwise suddenly decides to release and send you meg hypo for hours at least or even days.

Been there, done that, worn the Tshirt out.
