do people re use lancets, I've been think I've been given 30 but they wont last long. Can I use the one for the day/ couple of days, I've been changing them every time?

Hi Becky,
I think its diffirent for all of us, personally I change mine once a week on a Monday morning, but ask the next person they may do it every day.Dont think Id be one of those who changes them yearly thats for sure LOL.

I've gone through nearly 20 this week. Think I'll go down to maybe two a week or something

I usually change mine once a week. However if I find it starts hurting when I test then I change the lancet at that time. Too expensive to change for every test. If you prefer to change it more than once weekly, you could try a new one each day,.

I change mine when It gets too ouchy. Officially we should change them every time

I change my lancet only a couple of times a year. Less hassle, less waste etc. As used lancets are contaminated sharps, they need to be disposed of in a sharps bin.
I'll move this thread from Newbies to General Messageboard.

Change mine once a week when I do my Diasend upload... sort of my weekly ritual now along with checking needles, test strips & insulins for repeat prescription. The box of 100 lancets is going to last me a while.

I change every few days , are you sure you only got 30 as mine have always come in boxes of 100.

I use a fresh lancet for every test but the device I have has a loaded drum with 6 needles at a time x

I only change my lancet on Ouchday.

My Accu-Chek stabber uses cassettes of 6, but it doesn't move to the next one automatically, it's manual. Therefore I will change mine either when it hurts LOL or if I think 'Don't remember changing this, this week' They do go blunt quicker than the ones that come singly, because the pointy bit is much finer than the single ones - of which I rarely used a whole tub. Forget how many cassettes there are in a box, but it's still roughly 100 actual lancets - and I am now on my second box whereas I've had the stabber about 15 months.

So I reckon I use an average 2 a week.

I'm still on my first box of lancets - I was diagnosed nearly 9 years ago 😱 I still have about half the box left! 😱 🙂

I usually hang on for the St Swithins day change over but this post encouraged me to change lancets early and the results are in and they are good!😉 A new lancet works a treat 🙂
