I am interested in how many times the needle lancet is used by members, once twice how many times please.

I test about 10 times a day and change my poker once a week.

Ummm - when it starts to hurt more than it used to! They eventually get a bit blunt.

Until it hurts!!! One 6 needle carrier lasts me about 4 months. When I first started I was using a fresh one for each test - no wonder the surgery complained - even though that is the official recommendation.

Charlie -

There is a longstanding diabetic joke that St Swithin's Day is when all diabetics worldwide, change their lancet. Regular as clockwork.

Occasionally I find an unfinished box of lancets at the back of a cupboard and very often for the third meter back.

Seriously I have had this meter for over 2 years and was prescribed 2 boxes each containing 200 lancets when I got it. I test approx. 6 times a day and I still have about 50 lancets unused as yet. As has been said - when it starts hurting it usually means they are blunt so I use a new one.

I have found these ones I have now (Multiclix stabber) blunt sooner than other types but there again it seems a less forceful spring than most other makes and is comfier.

Usually until I shriek ouch very loudly then it's changed

My son uses a new lancet each time he tests. This is recommended! But not followed by most adults with diabetes it seems! 🙂

The lancets I use develop a hook on them after 1st use. So one week is more than enough for me. 😱 Until they introduced the hook after first use it was about once a year for a change.

When first diagnosed (and I still had a say in things) Carol changed her lancet after every use, but nowadays I change it when I have the opportunity, which is quite rare. The open packet, which is about 3/4 full, I ordered April 2012 😱

My nurse advised to change each test. This makes it far less painful and reduces the fingertips 'toughening'. I test 6-10 times a day and my surgery provides as many lancet cartridges as I need. 🙂

probably change it every month or so, can't remember the last time I ordered a box! They always tend to disappear of my repeat prescription request it's that infrequent

Daily for me - got into a routine of remembering this way. They do blunt after a bit of use.

I'm awful at remembering to change lancets and have only recently started the second box of 100. I had the first box for nearly four years!

Mostly every test, though have used a lancet all day on a few occasions.

Thanks this has just prompted me to change mine. Haven't changed it for, probably, at least 6 months...! 😱

And I test on average 7-8 times a day!

You're supposed to change it every time you test, which is my aim but i'm not very good at remembering! lol

I do change it at least every other day now though and i test about 5 times a day. Mine are on repeat prescription and i don't have any trouble in getting them when i need them - in fact i seem to get them when i don't order them!!

Every 3-6 months for me. Whether I need to or not 😉

By the time I have used up the lancets that come with the device, I've usually worn the thing out!
