Hi folks,

My lancer gave up yesterday.

I've got boxes of freestyle lancets 28 gauge.

So I need something they can fit into.
I think I need either this one FreeStyle Lancing Device II or FreeStyle Lancing Device
I am really struggling to find a uk website that I can buy them from.
I looked on the daibetes uk store too, can't find any on there.
Doesn't help they are called different things on each site.
Do you think it would be okay buying them on eBay, I am worried about fakes.
To be honest I really don't care which type it is its hard work stabbing my poor little fingers randomly.
Can anyone help? I just can't find them to buy.

Thanks,

Do the manufacturers of the lancets have a website, as they may well also provide devices. That's what I did when mine broke and they sent me a whole kit (lancets, strips, ketone strips, meter and lancet free).

Forgot to say, Boots sell lancing devices but not sure of the makes, but you may be able to get one with some strips until you can get a replacement for yours.

You can't never tell from eBay, although there is the money back guarantee. I'd go for it. As it's apparently new and unused (thank god!), you're unlikely to seriously hurt yourself if it is faulty.

I'd contact Contact Abbotts helpline number if I were you, I'm fairly sure they will be able to help.

Another vote for ringing Abbott - they'll sort you out, I'm sure 🙂 And get yourself a spare! 😱 😉

personally I don't like the Libre lancing devise, tried it several times on the lowest setting and it still thwacked (ouch) into my fingers and wouldn't stop bleeding for ages.
So I've gone back to my old devise and lancets.

They sent me a spare no problem whem mine went kaput

Hi phoebe.
How did you get on in the end did you order from eBay?
Definitely listen to Alan hes spot on about always have a spare

When I have broken them, I have just rung them up and had they have sent them free of charge, or if you register your meter on line with some meter suppliers you can order free replacements that way.

I'm sure Abbott would send another. When my Neo meter packed up Abbott sent a replacement, then another one arrived and then a third! You could always go old school as I sometimes did when I had the Autolet and just jab your fingers with the lancet. It was kinder to my fingers doing that than using the mini guillotine. 😱

I have just been using the lancets and that works, but not always and its hard to know how much force. It doesn't ever hurt though but sometimes I have to do it more than once. It is making me change the lancet every time, which I am normally very bad at.

There is one of the way from Abbott.

This one was the spare I just didn't replace it, naughty I know.

Glad that you have one on the way, or is that two sdifferent that you have a spare.

I used to have the Abbott Ines but have just switched to the Accu Chek one. I had rejected it before because I didn't think it worked but it was just that the needle is so fine I don't feel it. An absolute convert now and Practice agreed to switch my lancets.
