Type 1.5 LADA
hi my name is TTSeng. I saw this chat group and thought it may help.

My son has LADA. He asked why he is being so unlucky. What can I say to him ?

Welcome @TTSeng 🙂 Type 1/LADA is an auto-immune condition so it’s not your son’s fault he has it. He could look at it another way: he’s actually lucky because we have insulin to treat it. Before the discovery and purification of insulin, Type 1/LADA was a terminal illness.

How old is your son @TTSeng ?

LADA is a form of T1 that comes on slowly in adulthood. But ‘classic’ T1 can be diagnosed in adulthood too.

Perhaps the terminology is different in Malaysia?
