Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I have recently been diagnosed type 2 and want to understand carbohydrates sugar in fruit veg blood sugar count and generally how to continue to control diabetes by good diet. Thank you for any help Kumacub

Hi kumacub, welcome to the forum 🙂 I moved your post to it's own thread so it would receive more attention.

I would suggest having a read of the links in our Useful links thread, in particular Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter - these will give you a good basic understanding of diabetes and what you need to do in order to manage your blood glucose levels well. Sugar is just another form of carbohydrate, and all carbs affect blood glucose levels, so it is useful to follow either the GI or GL principles (Glycaemic Index/Load) so that you can balance their effect when you eat.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, and we will try our best to help. Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

Kumacub hi and a warm welcome to the forum. It will become easier once you have got your head aroud things,in the meantime have a good look around the things Alan has suggested its a great place to start

Hello Kumacub and welcome. You are probably still in a state of shock, some people get very little information when diagnosed so shout if there is anything you want to know.

Welcome to the forum kumacub 🙂

Welcome to the forum! 🙂

Hi kumacub, welcome. As previously said, have a good look around the forum and ask away anything your not sure of. Carbs were the main thing I tackled when diagnosed a few months ago and things have settled down for me now to a level that I am getting to understand what it is all about.

So take your time, it will all come together a little later.🙂

Welcome Kumacub.

Others have already given some pointers about carbohydrate etc in diet. The other major aspects to consider are weight control (maintaining a healthy weight if that's where you are, or losing weight if you're too heavy) and exercise - which helps for both weight control and achieving blood glucose levels.

welcome to the forum.... hope you will soon find your way around 🙂

Hello and welcome along 🙂
