Interesting thing the last few days, is that I've not really been feeling much like eating. I've been trying to pay attention to when I actually feel like eating versus when I'm simply bored and use food as something to pay attention to.

So yesterday I ended up not having lunch because I intended to get some at work but then ended up not paying attention and skipping. I got to dinner and couldn't really be bothered either, but forced myself to have some veggies anyway.

Then today, I'd normally have an omlette or salad around midday, but again just didn't really feel hungry. So I've skipped lunch and its almost dinner time and my stomach is growling but I don't really feel that hungry either.

You guys ever get that? I've not experienced this before. And this is right before I'm planning to do the 800 calories a day thing too.

Bodies are weird.

I find that I no longer feel hungry or only very rarely get cravings since I got into a routine of eating very low carb and higher fat. I often skip lunch and sometimes get to dinner time and I am not that bothered even then, but I will sometimes have cravings the next day or the day after if I miss too many meals. 2 meals a day on my LCHF eating regime is probably about right I think, even if they are just light meals. I didn't have breakfast or lunch today, but I am having some homemade cream of mushroom soup now and then after evening stable duty I will think about making my haggis supper.

My gut feeling is that once you cut right down on carbs, your body stops craving them and the hunger most people feel is not real hunger but just the body having digested the previous meal and being ready for it's next glucose rush.

Yes, I often feel like that myself, I am 12 stone (wet!) 6 ft 2" tall so don't need to lose any weight, yesterday I had a dose of the squits, all last week ,I was feeling bloated,& constipated, I put this down to the Metformin meds ( 2x500mg a day), since I have been taking meds ,I have never been happy with it.
Also it's probably one of those things that comes with having Diabetes, I have type 2,diagnosed 3 months ago,I have been trying to follow a low carb ,high fat diet and moderate excercise, but my Hb1ac has near enough halfed in that time, at my next review shall ask about reducing the meds or coming off them, I am not happy having to take them.
But in the end ,I have improved since diagnosis, but certainly noticed my appetite is shot to pieces.
Gerald.

Probably a pretty sound theory really. I know I've been a lot less hungry since doing the low carb diet. I had a look at the calorific value of the two meals I've had the last two days and they are between 800 and 1000 calories each (mainly veg with a bit of meat). Maybe I already started my 800 calorie diet but just didn't know it 🙂
